Designing the "TechCrunch Disrupt" of Nigeria's tech ecosystem
Startup Festival 2022, organized by GetEquity on November 19, aimed to connect Nigerian startups, investors, and ecosystem supporters to foster innovation and collaboration in tech. Originally set for October 19, product designer Felix Ayoola created an initial art direction. After the event was rescheduled, he formed a team to develop a refined visual identity. As the merchandise designer, I focused on creating stylish, brand-aligned items that reflected the event’s innovative spirit and resonated with attendees.

Why use pixelated images?
The creative direction for Startup Festival 2022 was inspired by pixelated blocks, symbolizing the building blocks of the startup ecosystem — the people and startups driving the industry. This concept led to the creation of a custom typeface used for the event's logo, layout, and illustrations across print and digital media. Additionally, we designed pixelated illustrations of Lagos landmarks, where the event took place, to enhance the branding on various collateral.

Project Impact
The custom typeface and iconic Lagos illustrations gave the event a distinctive, modern feel, reinforcing the festival's branding across all materials. The event was a success, drawing a diverse audience of startups, investors, and ecosystem supporters, and fostering meaningful connections. The unique design elements not only enhanced the festival experience but also positioned the event as a key milestone in promoting synergy within the tech community.
